California Tax Deadline Extended
New Deadline Announced for State Taxpayers
Important Update from the California Franchise Tax Board
**WEB SACRAMENTO -** The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) has announced that most Californians will have until November 16, 2023, to file their state tax returns.
The extension applies to individuals who lived in a federally declared disaster area that includes at least one county in California. The disaster areas include those affected by the recent wildfires, floods, and mudslides.
The FTB also reminds taxpayers that the federal income tax filing deadline has been extended to October 15, 2023. This extension does not apply to California state taxes.
Taxpayers can file their returns electronically, by mail, or through a tax preparer. For more information on filing your California state taxes, visit the FTB website at https://www.ftb.ca.gov/.
