Tax Deadline for Most Canadians
File by April 30, 2023
The deadline to file taxes for most Canadians is April 30, 2023. This includes personal and corporate income taxes, as well as GST/HST returns.
No Extension Planned Despite Strike
Despite a strike by the union representing Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) employees, the CRA has stated that it has no plans to extend the general tax filing deadline. The CRA has stated that it is committed to providing taxpayers with the necessary information and services to file their taxes on time.
Pay by April 30, 2024
For most people, the 2023 tax return has to be filed on or before April 30, 2024. However, the payment of any taxes owing is due on April 30, 2023. If you have a balance owing, you may be able to make a payment arrangement with the CRA.
No Extension for Personal Tax Returns
The deadline to file personal tax returns and make any payments is May 1, 2023. This deadline has not been extended.
